I purchased a skein of yarn at The Sea Ranch in CA of wool taken from their local sheep. There is still a strong hint of the sheep in it and has a greasy film still on it.
What is the best way to remove the scent and film from the yarn? What should I use?

[color=indigo]Tie the skein in a few more places. Fill your washer with very hot water and a little tsp of Dawn or other dish soap. Soak the yarn in the water till luke warm. Spin out. Do not agitate! Take yarn out, and repeat the process. Take out and repeat again this time with some hair conditioner instead of the soap. Hang to dry. That should remove the lanoline and odor.
