Gesta - first garment

:waving: This is my 1st fitted garment. It is the vest from the pattern Gesta by Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton from her Noro Book Two I would’ve finished sooner if I hadn’t had to :frog: almost the entire front since I forgot to read the “technical comment” at the beginning of the pattern and misplaced my increases and decreases. I got very lucky with the balls of yarn I bought since they patterned out very similar and allowed me to match up the striping fairly closely on the sides. It certainly isn’t perfect, but it is my first attempt at anything besides a scarf or hat!

The yarn was absolutely scrumptious to work with. I can tell it’s going to pill like crazy, but I’ll just have to invest in one of those sweater stone things.

Yarn: Noro Kochoran, #21 (less than 3 balls, but needed 3 to match stripes and finish out the length). This yarn is a blend of wool, angora and silk. It is my favorite of all the Noro yarns I’ve used so far.

Needles: 10.5 bamboo straights

Notes: I tried to cheat and do a three needle bind-off on the shoulders, but it just didn’t lay properly. So I went back in and made myself learn the kitchener stitch and I am so glad that I did now. I’m still trying to decide whether to go back around the neck and armholes with single crochet or not at some later point. But for now, I’m sticking a fork in this baby!

That is gorgeous!

I made a scarf out of that same colorway… what fun!

Very lovely.

Beautiful

it’s lovely,is it nice and warm?,nice colours also

did you also make your own label?

Your vest looks great! :cheering:
I made my first (and only sweater) out of the same Noro. Love the colorway.

 Thanks all! I appreciate the kind words. Sizz, I think it is warm, but not overly. Nice for the controlled climate in which I work (a library). I did not make my labels myself. I ordered them. I don’t remember where. But I would think that if you googled using keywords that you could find them. Others may be of help with supplementing my very bad memory!

I just had an enjoyable evening at my MIL’s. She has knitted for probably 40 years or more. She took me down a trip through memory lane with some of the sweaters she has knitted (including one my DH wore when he was about 7 y.o. - which I just oohed and ahhed over. It was so DANG cute!).

Wishing all a good night. I gotta get some rest before tomorrow when I know my elementary kiddies are all going to want to check out new books after having about 10 snow days!!!.

You did a excellent job on this vest.WOW Love the colors too :cheering:

Very nice!

[That is very similar to the project I am going to knit myself once I finish my list…]
