Hi,
I am knitting a cardigan with bust darts. It has a two stitch selvedge edge on each row of a granite stitch repeat. I am confused on whether to include the selvedge stitches when the pattern calls for knitting to the last four stitches before doing the double stitch.
Any opinions?
Here is the pattern repeat. There are 2ss selvedge added at each end, but the pattern doesn’t refer to them.
Granite St (increments of 2 sts + 1, 8 rows
Row 1 (RS): Knit across.
Row 2 (WS): Purl across.
Row 3: *P1, k1; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 4: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * to end.
Row 5: Knit across.
Row 6: Puri across.
Row 7: *K1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 8: P1, *k1, p1; work from * to end
And here are the short row instructions
Row 1 (RS): Work in patt to last 4 (5, 6, 7, 8) [9, 10,
sts, turn work.
Row 2 (WS): DS, work in patt to end.
Row 3 (RS): Work in patt to 4 (4, 5, 6, 7) [8, 9, 10](11, 12, 13, 14) sts before DS, turn work.
Row 4 (WS): DS, work in patt to end.
Next row (RS): Work in patt to - (5, 6, 7, 8) [9, 10, 11] (, 13, -, -) sts before DS, turn work.
Next row (WS): DS, work in patt to end.
Repeat these two rows - (1, 1, 0, 1) [1, 0, 0](-, 0, -, -) more times.
Next row (RS): Work in patt to end, resolving all DS.
