Gauge

Is it really that crucial to have gauge match exactly in a blanket? The gauge says 16 stitches = 4 inches and 20 rows = 4 inches. I am on second swatch and I have 15 stitches in 4 inches.

Unless you want it to be a certain size or the same dimensions as the pattern gives, it’s not essential to match gauge when knitting something like a blanket or toys. Gauge is more crucial for things that have to fit a person or other object in a particular way.
