For a top down raglan sweater on circular needles, do I do the gauge swatch flat or as a tube please?

Best to work the swatch in the round. There are simpler ways of doing that.
Do you have a pattern picked out? Can you give us the name of the pattern and designer?
Hi and welcome! It’s best to do your swatch in the round if you’ll be working in the round. Gauge can be quite different when knitting flat. There is a ‘cheat’ I’ll try to find.
