when you’re trying to gauge something on circs what do you do?
just do a swatch like normal on the circs without knitting in the round?
thanks!

The reason there’s a difference in gauge between circs and straights is that you don’t have to purl on circs.
To make a swatch on circs, you need to work only the front as you would when knitting in the round. So what they say to do is to cast on on the circs or a dpn, knit across. Then slide the work to the other end of the needle and knit across again, draping your yarn across the back loosely. Keep doing this until you’ve done the size you want.
thanks!
i’m glad i asked - i would have never though of that. =)
