Gauge Help

Okay, I have to use smaller needles on the project, because I don’t have the right ones, can’t afford to buy them and frankly probably won’t use them again.

I am supposed to have 6 stitches per 4 in., but instead I have 8 on the smaller needles. So I need to convert my pattern. But I am having a major math block. I read some of the other posts, but couldn’t find one that would work through my math block!

6 is 75% of 8. So do I decrease the number of stitches needed? OY Vay! Or do I increase the number? I know I am decreasing or increasing by 25%.

UGH I have done this before I don’t remember which way to go.

I believe you increase your stitches.

If you’re getting 8 per 4 inches now, it will be too small, so you need to make it larger. As for percentages, decreases and such, I’ll let you figure that out.

I just KNEW it would be you who answered! Thanks so much. I think I can take it from here.
