Gauge:Creating my own knitted skirt

If i want to gauge for a simple knit skirt, will it be same as measuring for the head? As in ll measure my waist and then multiplying the inches by the gauge i knit?

And yes, that will give you the number of stitches at the waist. Remember to think about how snugly or loosely you want it to fit and that it’ll probably have to go over a wider part of you to get to your waist.

what if i want to put a split how would i go about doing that?

If you’re knitting flat. leave the slit length open when you seam. If you’re going to knit in the round, knit the slit portion back and forth.
