Garter Stitch Repeats Question

I’m trying to knit something with a garter stitching border and the patter says:
Row 1: knit
Row 2: Purl
Repeat 1-2 7 times (8 rows total of garter stitch)

Does this mean I do 8 rows of knit and 8 rows of purl (16 rows) or does this mean that I do 4 rows of knit and 4 rows of purl (8 rows)? I think it means 16 rows total (8 sets of rows), but I’m not 100% sure.

Welcome to the forum!
You will have 16 knit rows or 8 ridges in garter stitch (knit every row) at the borders.
The stitch pattern is stockinette, knit one row, purl one row alternately. There’ll be 16 rows of stockinette total: knit one row, purl one row, knit one row, purl one row and so on.

Could you tell us the name and source (publisher or designer) of the pattern?

That’s very helpful. Thank you.

Ah, loom knitting! I couldn’t quite understand your question, but I’m not familiar with loom knitting, so that’s why I was confused. Looks like a lovely blanket. Happy looming!
