Garter knitted baby socks

Pattern is telling me to rib knit 3 inches than move 13 stitches on the right side and 14 it’s on the left side onto 2safety pins .garter knit 15 rows over the middle 13 sts how is that possible I’m lost

What pattern are you using? What comes next in the pattern? It looks like you’re setting up to knit a heel flap. Are you working in the round or flat?

Knitting for kids/ Paula hammerskog
I knitting flat

I can tell what I would do but someone else may do a better job of it. I would knit 14 st and move them to waste yarn. I would knit the next 13 st and leave them on the needle, move the last 13 st (unworked) to waste yarn. That leaves the middle 13 st for you to work garter stitch rows on. Alternatively it might be possible to simply leave the held stitches on the needle as you work the middle ones. Later you’ll pick up stitches along the edges of the flap and then all stitches will be in use again. HTH

If this is less clear than mud just let us know so someone else can help you.

Okay I don’t think that’s going to work for me I’m just a beginner knitter I tried

@salmonmac or @Creations ?

There are some techniques that are probably new to you but I’ll bet you can work these socks.
Here’s a diagram of what the pattern is asking you to do. See if that helps. It’s as GG explained.

You’ve already knit the rib for the cuff on the socks. Now knit across 13sts then continue across the next 13 sts. Turn as you would at the end of a row, leaving the remaining 14sts unworked and knit across the last 13sts that you just knit. Again turn and keep knitting across only those 13sts in the center. Ignore the first 13sts and the last 14sts. You’ll get to them later.
If it’s easier, you can slip those beginning and end sts onto stitch holders or waste yarn (or just let them hang out on the ends of the needles).

Is it best to knit this pattern with 3 pointed needles

The pattern doesn’t seem to require double points although you could use 2 that are long enough to hold the stitches. So far it looks like 2 straight needles or a circular that is used to knit back and forth will work. Give it a try and if you would still like help, don’t hesitate to ask. We’re your backup!

Okay ladies I’m going to knit this other pattern though it was going to be easier but I’m stuck thus are baby botties I’m not sure what they mean by sl1,k11,turn it does not have any parenthesis

This is what I have so far

Those are so sweet! I love the look and feel of garter stitch booties.
This is quite similar to the first pattern. You’ll knit across 24sts the turn as if you were at the end of a row. After the turn, slip a stitch then knit back on 11 of the sts you just knit and turn. From now on you’ll be slipping the first stitch and knitting 11sts for the given number of rows. This will lengthen the instep or top of the foot on the booties.

It’s a pretty usual set up for knitting booties.

Thank you I can’t quit I want to make them for my great grandson as a gift Thank you again

K ladies , just can’t understand this pattern so I’m giving up but I decided to make a garter stitch sweater I was doing good until I got stuck I finished the back place them on a spare needle now I’m knitting the sleeves so I cast on 29 sts k7 rows. I’m lost at this point I’m getting more than 35 stitches if I repeat the last 8 rows

Hello
The increase row adds 2 sts, one near the beginning of the row and one near the end.

29 sts
Inc row is k3, m1, knit until there are 3 stitches left on the needle, m1, k3.
You have increased by 2.
29 + 2 = 31

Then work 7 rows

Next inc row will add 2 sts. 31 + 2 = 33
Work 7 rows
Next inc row will add 2 sts 33 + 2 = 35

You can count the stitches after finishing an increase row to check you have the correct number before moving on.

If there are other additional stitches there is a chance you are accidentally doing a yarn over mid row or even that you may be working the first stitch of the row as 2 stitches if the stitch is pulled up over your needle it can appear to be 2. Always make sure the first stitch is sitting flat with the working yarn down before starting.

Hope this helps.
