Was so excited to use up some Mission Falls cotton in my stash for wash cloths to gift for Christmas. (I used the pattern in Knitting for Baby by Melanie Falick.) Just finished my first one and unfortunately it is somewhat misshapen. Though I followed the pattern to the letter, the second half of the cloth is longer and stretchier than the first. I really don’t think it’s a tension issue as I did the whole thing today and worked consistently. I knit continental style and I’m wondering if that might have something to do with it. The sides of the bottom triangle (the increase rows) are less stretchy than the sides of the top triangle (the decrease rows).
It doesn’t matter which way you knit (continental or english). That just happens sometimes. The best way I’ve found to straighten it out is to toss it in the washer and dryer. If it still needs it you can give it a tug and it’ll be about right. I always figure it’s just a washcloth though so it’s not that big a deal. :teehee:
