Gaps after cabling

I’m doing a pullover that has a 4stitch, (6 row repeat) cable:
Row 1-5: P6, K4, P6
Row 6: P6, C4B, P6.

On the Left hand side of the cable (in between the last K and the next P) is a big gap. Its almost as if I’d done a YO on the RS row and then dropped it on the purl row :grrr:

On the right hand side of the cable its fine.

Any suggestions ?

That’s normal and will look better as you knit more rows. After a few more of them, pull down on your work a little and the hole should be less noticeable. They’ll even out more when you wash or block the FO.

If it really bothers you you can wrap the yarn under instead of over on the first purl stitch to tighten it up. It is normal though for handknit cables.

They’re right. Check this thread out about a hat I was knitting. There’s pics of the gaps. I was freaking out. They told me to chill - it was normal and would be hidden in the final project. Here’s the FO: hat - - and you can’t see the holes/gaps anymore.
