I am making this sleeveless top in size S. After the bottom ribbing I start with 117 stitches. After knitting 3rd row I end up with 118 stitches. I have ripped it out 3 times and redid. I consistently end up with an extra stitch. Am I making a mistake (new to lace ) or this supposed to happen. Can’t figure out the math
!Well good for you for venturing into lace. Always good to learn something new.
The stitch number should remain the same for this pattern. There are 6sts in the repeat (repeated 19 times) and after you finish the row there should still be 6sts per repeat.
Getting a pattern started on the first couple of rows is often the hardest part. Markers between the repeats help here. If the stitch count is off it’s easier to find where the mistake is. It may just be that you neglected to pass one of the slipped sts over. That can be corrected on the next row.
It’s not a consisten mistake so it’s likely an error in only one of the repeats.
That is exactly what happened. I went back and looked at each stitch and I found where my extra one was. Forgot a psso, which I was able to fix on next P row.
I was being so careful too! Do you recommend a marker between each of the 19 repeats?
Also thank you for being so encouraging ![]()
I’m so glad you found it!
You can mark off every repeat or maybe mark off every 2 repeats. You can use small circles of contrasting color yarn if you don’t have enough markers.
Good luck the rest of the way.
Thank you! Appreciate you and this forum so much! Happy 4th of July!
Thank you. A very happy 4th to all!
