how do you find the gage of a pattern that has cables in it? the bottom inch is ribbing but from that point on its one row after another of cables. im thinking that it would be way to time consuming to knit a swatch of the cables just to check the gage with the amount of cables that it would take to knit the swatch. there has to be a easier way.
:?? the pattern almost screams at me to check my gage. makes me scared to even try to attempt it less i get it wrong.
Gaging a cable...?
Does it tell you to measure the gauge in pattern? Sometimes a pattern will just say to measure a gauge in st st.
nope it says 16sts and 22rows = 4" in St st on large needles
hey do round needles come in different lengths? like this pattern says US8 16" & 24". but when i go to the store all i can ever find is the 24" so i asumed that they only came in one size.
BTW this is the News Boy Cap hat from Stitch and Bitch Nation
Circular needles come in lengths everywhere from 8 to 40 inches. When you’re knitting in the round, the length is very important. If the had requires 16 inch needles, you’ll need them, or your stitches won’t fit around the needle.
If your gauge says st st, then you can work your swatch in st st and not have to worry about the cable.
THANK YOU NOT SO SCARED NOW
