Gage issue

I am working with a yarn, and when finishing my gage test, it comes out too long (the row side is too long compared with the stitch number side- which comes out perfectly)… I suppose I could reduce the number of rows accordingly during the pattern, but it’s a very funky shaped sweater and I am afraid I am not that technically savvy at this point.

If I change needles, afraid the width will be off…(although I am knitting one swatch right now for comparison)…

Any suggestions???

Thanks…

Generally the patterns will have you knit X inches, not a specific number of rows. Keep the stitch gauge you have, or you can go down a needle size. This may shorten up the row gauge, but the sts may be the same. Also you might want to block your sample to see how the yarn behaves after.

If the row gauge is still off and there’s parts of the pattern that tell you to knit X rows, then convert that row number to inches, then the inches to the rows you get.
