FT Clogs RE: Yarn Colors

I have ordered the clog pattern, but not yet the yarn. I’ve read bits and pieces of the (long) clog KAL thread, so I know that I’m supposed to use worsted weight 100% wool, double stranded.

I wanted to order WOTA from knitpicks, but my sister (being the picky hooch that she is  ) wants pink… like carnation pink.

I saw this pair in the KAL thread, and I REALLY like this pink. Does anyone know what yarn this is? (Margie??) LOL.

I kind of wanted to order all my yarn at the same time from one place, and KP has a great price. Does anyone know of a WOTA color that would be pink enough??

Thanks to all you experienced knitters out there

WOTA doesn’t have it. I bought some tulip last time to see what color it was and it’s very bright pinky purple…not carnation pink at all. The merino style has a petal pink that looks like what you are looking for. It’s DK weight though.

I tried to find what yarn Margie used, but didn’t come up with it. I saw that she’d use Sheep’s Pride (I think) on some other ones so maybe that is it.

I remember asking her what yarn she used because I loved those colors and she did say Sheep’s Pride.

You gould get the WOTA - Natural clicky
Then Kool-Aid dye it with Pink Lemon Aid or a little bit of Cherry.

I totally thought about that, but I don’t have a ball winder or a swift, so it’s such a pain in the rear!! I probably have enough wool here at home to dye. In the end, that’s probably what I’ll do. I plan on getting a swift and winder in a couple of weeks, so maybe I’ll just wait on making them.

Thanks, everyone!

OOoooooooo, I’m here!! Figures the one morning I don’t read KH, someone has a question that I can answer!! I used Lamb’s Pride for those clogs. The color is Victorian Pink. The clogs turned out really nice- Lamb’s Pride felts up fuzzy and warm!! :cheering:

Margie:

Where do you get Lamb’s Pride? Do you think that I could get it at my local Hobby Lobby? Although I live near the second (or third?) largest city in Arkansas, we still don’t have a LYS. :crying:

I  that color, and I know my sister will, too. I want to get the soles for them, too, in black. She requested pink as the main color and black for the soles and edge part where your foot goes in.

Since I don’t have the pattern yet, would you tell me how much of each color I will need for a woman’s size 9??

Thanks again!!

GASP… …I can’t find my clog pattern!!! I made so many pairs of clogs before Christmas, and now I can’t find the pattern- I hope I didn’t accidentally throw it away or something!!

I believe that you need 600 yards for the women’s medium. 1/3 of that would be the color for the upper, and the rest would be for the soles and the cuff. Somebody else correct me on this if I’m wrong, please- it’s been a while since I made my last pair!

Also, I’m not sure that the suede soles come in black- I seem to remeber only seeing them in tan and gray. I got mine from Patternworks.

My LYS sells Lamb’s Pride- I don’t have any Hobby Lobbys here where I live, so I’m not sure if they’s carry it or not. We have Joanne’s and Michaels, and neither one of those carry it.

Good luck- the clogs are so much fun to make, and so comfortable to wear- your sister will love them!!

So 1/3 of the 600 is 200 yards for the upper? Wow, that’s not very much at all!! I have a skein of natural wool (ready to be dyed!!!) that’s a little over 200 yards. I think I’m just going to go that way with the pink. I was thinking that I would have to dye 3 skeins. And without a swift or ball winder… No way.

I’ll just order the black wool with the rest of my order (hey, I can make myself something once in a while, right? :happydance: ).

Here are the slipper soles… They look black… am I wrong? And do I need the lined or the unlined?

Oh, and if the kind I need only come in gray, that’s fine. Gray goes with pink… I’ll just change the yarn color from black to gray to match the soles.

You could just use these. This is what they look like on clogs.
