Rows 1 and 2: Knit
Row 3 (RS): K6, *(yo) twice, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) 4 times, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) twice, k6; rep from *
Row 4:Knit, dropping all yo’s off needle
Row 5 and 6: Knit
Row 7: K1, *(yo) twice, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) 4 times, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) twice, k6; rep from *, end last repeat k1 instead of k6
Row 8: Same as row 4.

Repeat rows 1-8.

also, how would you work a pattern in parenthesis? For example, one pattern was like this: (p1, k5) twice.

Rows 3, 4, and 7 I don’t understand, please help. Thank you :oops:

it is just telling you to do whatever is in the parenthesis however many times. for example the last one you talked about there would be done as

pkkkkkpkkkkk and then whatever instruction follows.

so this

Row 3 (RS): K6, *(yo) twice, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) 4 times, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) twice, k6; rep from *

translates to

kkkkkk YO YO k YO YO YO k YO YO YO YO k YO YO YO k YO YO k kkkkkk

and you would keep doing following that pattern from the first yarn over until you ran out of stitches

does that make any sense?

Yes, that does. I have 16 stitches and I can’t rep from * because I ran out. Do I have to have 26? Or 36?

The pattern calls for a multiple of 10 stitches, plus 6. So since you started with 16, you won’t need to do the repeats that have * before them. If you started with 26 stitches, you’d repeat them once, with 36 sitiches, you’d repeat them twice, etc.

So still do the repeats in (), but not the ones with the * before them.

I was confused before because it said to repeat * before but I ran out of stitches to repeat! LOL. Why was that included in the directions in the first place? Only when you have 26 or 36 etc stitches? I assume multiples of 10 would be 20, 30, 40, etc plus 6.

Right – I don’t know what this pattern is for, but usually lace patterns specify a multiple of X + Y stitches. So a multiple of 10 + 6 stitches would be 16 or 26 or 36 and so on.

It’s called the Seafoam Stitch, It’s really pretty.

Also, there’s this Wildflower Knot pattern which I am confused about:

Cast on a multiple of 8 sts plus 5

row 4 states: k5 p3tog, leave sts on LH needle;yo, purl same 3 sts together again, k5; rep from

row 8: k1,*p3tog, leave on needle, yo, purl same 3 sts tog again, k5; rep from *, end last rep k1.

oh, I thought “confused about” brought out the idea that I am confused on how to do the pattern. Oh well, yeah I am confused on how to do the pattern. Especially the p3tog, leave sts on LH needle;yo, purl same 3 sts together again. I don’t understand it.

Well, put your needle in three stitches at once and wrap, purling them all at the same time, but don’t slide them off. Put the yarn in back (that’s the yo)
then put the needle in the same three stitches and purl them again and slide them off the needle. The yarn will come up over the back and make a yarn over extra stitch.

Sorry, I’m trying to see it. What do you mean by put the yarn back in and put the needle in the same three stitches? Is the needle already in the same three stitches because you did not slide them off?

Yes, you purl the three stitches together and don’t slide it off

yo the yarn to the back

purl those three stitches again (with the right needle as if you were doing it for the first time.)

Just put the yarn over the needle to the back as if you are going to knit. Simple. :wink:
