Frilled collar in "Boo" pattern

I am in the process of finishing off the cardigan made using the “Boo” pattern in Knitty.com. I have done single frills on the sleeves and have just started the collar but realise that I have made an error, I think!
The collar is knit by picking up stitches around the neck, and then after a couple of rows you knit twice into each stitch for 2 rows in SS. I thought that I had done this correctly but now I find that the collar is “back to front”, so that back shows when folded down.
I have two questions:
[ol]
[li]should I have picked up on the wrong side of the work rather than the right side?[/li][*]Presumably the SS should be worked in reverse so to speak so that the smooth side shows when folded down.[/ol]I’m going to have to re-do all those knit into each stitch twice stitches which is a real bind, but never mind. :frog:
