hi!
i really want to try silver’s toe up both at once method, but all of my patterns are for leg down, and i’m not comfortable inverting them. i’m working with a very fine yarn that’s giving me 8.5 stitches per inch on size 4 needles, and i’m looking to make some men’s socks for my partner. any pattern suggestions?
i wasn’t sure if i could just use silver’s exact pattern since she’s using a much thicker yarn than i am, and i wasn’t sure how much to increase the numbers in order to get a normal sized sock. but i DO want to use her general idea, i just need to figure out how many stitches to do in each part of the sock.
If you do a caston like the Magic caston you start off with a few stitches at the toe and increase twice on each side, every second round, until the toe is as wide as you want the sock (a bit like a top-down hat).

I used Silver’s tutorial, but did one at a time and I used the Sockulator to figure out stitch numbers. My socks turned out great and fit really well! The Sockulator is cool, cuz you just put in your numbers (gauge and foot size) and it gives you the numbers for cast on, etc. VERY COOL for someone like me who avoids math whenever possible.
