Frankenstien sized baby booties

I followed a pattern to make my first pair of baby booties and they look about the size of a baby Frankenstien. I used the correct yard and the correct needles but they are just too big. Should I use smaller needles or try to make the pattern smaller. Need Halloween Help!!

Oh dear, it doesn’t sound like you wanted monster sized booties at all. What pattern were you using?
You may knit looser than the average for which the pattern was written. I know I do. Ideally, there’s a gauge given in the pattern and you would knit a swatch to try to match that gauge. Yes, smaller needles will give you a smaller bootie and a gauge swatch may help you determine how much smaller needles you need to use…

Check your gauge. And/or use a lighter weight yarn.

Thanks for the ideas. The book didn’t actually ask for a gauge so thus my dilema. I will try using the smaller needles. The yarn was fingering don’t think I can get much smaller than that. Will post a picture to you when I get them done so you can see how you helped.

What is the name of the pattern?

Sounds like some of the sweaters I’ve tried to knit for myself LOL!! You’ll get good advice from these savvy ladies, unfortunately, I’m not one of them! Don’t mean to make light of your problem, I just know that letdown feeling.

It is from a book by Wellwood called Love to Knit Baby Booteees.

Okay, but I’m assuming the book has multiple patterns. What is the pattern name?

It’s called Daisy Chain.
