Finished the Traveling Fern Lace Scarf for my daughter, Lauralee. It’s on the blocking mats now, still wet from the soaking. I was really worried about casting on 4 repeats widthwise, that the scarf might come up too short with the one hank of yarn I had to work with. Alas, it didn’t! Right off the needles, it was way too short. But after a good soaking, it allowed itself to widen out to 10" and grow in length to 68". Wow, I was so surprised and happy. The yarn is Madeline Tosh Merino Light, a fingering weight, 420 yds. I was just very very worried that I bombed by casting 4 repeats wide. The Fear doesn’t sink in until you’re totally up the road, and way too much work has been done.
Lauralee is a creamy-complected young woman, with green eyes and medium brown hair, but she’s been doing her hair red highlights the past year. She looks great in greens, no matter what her hair color is.
Well, I must say, both your daughter and the scarf are absolutely gorgeous! The yarn and the pattern work so well together. Thank you for passing on your notes and the pattern.
What a beautifully matched pattern and yarn. It does look lake a traveling fern. Lauralee is lovely and the gorgeous scarf will be a perfect complement.
