FO: Stitch Markers!

I  these. I spent 2.5 hours at the store today trying to decide how to make the darned things, and finally… an idea struck me! I was holding it in my hand the entire time, but I never thought of it. :??

These were soooo much fun to see getting put together. No stitch marker looks alike and they are soooo colorful. I love them.

I am definately willing to make more if anyone is interested. Very easy to change the size of them as well, though as viewed they’re on a size 11 US needle. I don’t like to make normal things. They always need to have a little SHABAM here or there, or something that makes you go, “Whaaa???”

So yeah. What do ya think??? This is giving me soooo many more ideas now. I need to buy smaller plyers too so I can fix the ends so they won’t stick to anything, but that’s easy. Ideas, Ideas, IDEAS! Vlahahahahaha…

They’re lovely!

VERRRRY cute! You’ll just have to make sure they done SNAGGG anything…

They’ll be fine. I can easily fix the ends for these, and the next ones I make will be made differently so that won’t be a problem at all. :happydance:

And thanks! I love them!!! Hehehehe.

cute! I love all the colors! (And I just bought some clover markers today…lol)

Very beautiful and creative!

Those are soo awesome!!! But how do they work??? I mean I know they are for marking Stiches but how do you get them off when your done with your project?

They just go from needle to needle. That’s how I was told stitch markers work. I can always fix them if I need to I guess. Even the ones you buy at the store are closed like this, and they’re plastic and fuuuuugly. Hehe.

Those are awesome!! Have fun knitting with them!

Your stitch markers are very cute. I agree with you about the ones at the store. When I bought my knitting kit I didn’t know what they were. They looked like something that is leftover from DIY furniture! :roflhard: I have never used stitch markers before but whenever I get around to it, I want mine to be cute as well.

Did you use the black craft wire from a craft store or Wal-Fart? The enamel comes off of it in flakes…ew! Another bad thing about enameled wire, it usually has just copper wire underneath the enamel. Once it’s exposed, copper tarnishes very quickly…tarnish + natural fiber yarn=baaad.

If you used something like “artistic wire” made by wild wire or wig jig, etc. you should be in the clear, the color is usually added in the heating process of the wire, vs. the other stuff that’s dipped in paint.

Good luck!

very cute!!!

Actually I purchased this wire at Jo-Ann’s, and yes, it came off while I was shoving beads on, but only because I shoved them on being as the whole was barely big enough.

I’m not looking to see the color anyways. The beads cover up all the wire except for the ends, which I can always cover with clear glue. Thank you for the heads up though!

those are very cool!

i’m really into beading and make all kinds of jewelry, but never thought about making stitch markers. just another thing to do i guess!!!

No problem!!! I just re-read my post, and I feel that I may have come off sounding a little harsh. If I did, please forgive me… was very tired when I wrote that! Honestly just trying to help & save you from the torment I went through when I first started with wire!

I wish you luck in all your wire & bead endeavors (oh god, please let me spell!)… isn’t it SO MUCH FUN???

D
