I finished my first cabled project last night, the Star Crossed Sloucy Beret. I had fun cabling :knitting: I used Red Heart Yarn in Soft White Fleck. I love the color pattern, but I wish I could find a higher quality yarn in this color pattern or something similar. I am pleased with how it turned out. I have some mistakes, but I am not going to tell you where they are :teehee: Here it is:

That’s beautiful! If mistakes don’t matter to you they don’t matter at all! Besides no one but another knitter will even notice and they might not with a yarn like that. ![]()
Did you use RHSS? There are many, many other higher quality yarns including ones in their own line… RH Soft for instance. I know other brands have speckles, but I don’t know if they are this specific color.

I LOVE IT!
I didn’t use RHSS–I just used Walmart Red Heart. Since this was my first cabled project, I didn’t want to invest in anything too expensive. Mistakes do bother me, but I am trying to cut myself a break. I am a beginning knitter. This is my third project. All my life I have been a perfectionist --I consider myself a recovering perfectionist now–and it has robbed me of a lot of joy. I have decided I am not going to be robbed of the joy of knitting–I am just trying to enjoy the process of learning, knowing there will be mistakes along the way.
It looks great, and no one will ever see any ‘personalizations’ that you put in. The color is wonderful.

Thanks. It is a free download on ravelry.com. Just do a search for Star Crossed Slouchy Beret.
