FO - St. Paddy's chunky roll brim baby hat w/ topknot

I’m so proud of this sweet little thing, b/c I just sort of winged the pattern (which I’ve never done before!) based on studying several different baby hat patterns (I couldn’t find much out there that I liked for a chunky yarn baby hat). This yarn is super-soft baby alpaca from Fabulous Yarn - yummy stuff! I used half the hank in December for a pair of booties and then the other half (with some left over) for this hat. It took me a little more than an hour-and-a-half to knit (gotta love those chunky yarns).

I gave it to the baby’s parents tonight; they put it on him and it looked so cute. I wish I had a good pic of him wearing it.

That is such a sweet hat! And the yarn does look yummy; beautiful color!

:cheering: :cheering: Looks great! I think all my baby hats are going to have topknots from now on. They look so cute!

CUTE!! Love the look of the chunky yarn!!

That’s just darling!

OK that is absolutly ADORABLE!

I love that chunky yarn too. I made a hat for my older daughter and had it done so fast! :XX:

I love it! Especially the color!

That is beary nice!
I’d love to feel it.

Oh, that is adorable!! :inlove: :inlove: The topknot is a nice touch!

Thanks, y’all! I’ve never done a topknot before, but I was feeling inspired to give the hat a little something extra (plus I didn’t want the knitting to be over when I got to the top of the hat - I just love working with this yarn).

I wish the KP baby alpaca yarn came in more babyish colors, b/c I would love a cheaper source (though I think the Fab Yarns price is pretty darn good).

So cute!!! It looks great!

Those are cute!!! Love the color! :inlove:

You should do like me and learn to spin it yourself! I buy alpaca from an alpaca farm near my home. Then, I spin it and dye it any color I want. It’s not that hard, but it does take some time to learn to do it right.

By the way, love the hat.

Love it!
