FO: Simple striped baby sweater

Just got some pictures up of this sweater I finished a couple of days ago.

That’s very cute. Did you carry the contrast yarn up the center edge when not in use?

Is it a free pattern you can share the link for?

Thank you!
I didn’t use a pattern, just made it. There are no side seams and I worked back and forth on a circular needle. I sort of carried the yarn I guess because I never cut it, but it hardly seems carried because I worked 3 rows and then if the second color was not where I needed it I slid the stitches all to the end where it was waiting and worked it from there. The bands are picked up along the front edges and knitted perpendicular to the front edges.

Oh, darn (socks that is). I just noticed that in some places I didn’t sew the buttons on so that the stripes line up. I never even thought about lining them up when I did it. :eyes: A few of them line up.

I love that sweater! :inlove:

You sure did a great job creating it from scratch! :yay:

The first thing I said (to myself) was that “the stripes line up perfectly!”

I had to go back and make the picture larger to take another look.
I think it’s an optical illusion that they aren’t lined up perfectly because the buttonhole side is slightly closer to the camera lens than the fabric of the button side.
You couldn’t have found better buttons to go with the colors, and an odd number to boot.

That’s really pretty! Is it for a special baby?

That is an adorable baby sweater. Did you pick up the stitches for the sleeves?

Jan, I made it thinking of a lady in our church’s baby. Baby boy born in the fall. Earlier when I gave her a knitting gift she said she might buy a couple a little later in about 6 month size for him. So I’m thinking of showing it to her and see if she wants to buy it. If not I’ll just hold on to it until later.

aprilbetty, yes, the sleeves are picked up at the shoulder and knitted down. This is seamless (unless you count that as a seam). Since this is a drop shoulder knitting down was very easy.

This is another winner, Judy! I especially love the two colors together!
