FO: Sackboy!

My husband and I are big fans of the video game Little Big Planet, so when I found an official pattern (pdf!) for the knitted sackboys in the game I had to make it up!

Next time I will use a smaller needle size to make a tighter fabric. The stuffing is a bit more visible between the stitches than I like. I’d also maybe knit it in the round if I get some DPN’s. (Not a big fan of dpn’s or magic loop but I didn’t like seaming either!)

I used Knit Picks Shine Worsted in the brown shade of “Bison”. He is so soft! My sister in law is totally in love and is begging for her own Sackboy.

My son approves!

For reference, here’s a sackboy as seen in the game:

It’s perfect and adorable. Well done. And what a sweet baby!

Awww! He’s so cute! You did a great job. Congrats

I wondered what he was from! Cute!

Oh he is so darn cute! I have seen these little dolls somewhere before…maybe someone here at KH knitted one! I was drooling then, and I’m drooling again! Your little doll is wonderful, and inspiring!

Oh, that puts a smile on your face. So darling.

It’s possible you’ve noticed them on tv if you watch it. I remember noticing them and the fact that they were knitted years before I had any interest in the game from the commercials.

I have heard the game makers sell actual sack boys as well, but a hand knitted one is so much more special… and cheap! This guy cost me maybe $7 to make and only a couple days to knit and assemble.

Very cool and good job.
I have a crocheted version, with the perfect open mouth and everything. He’s movable and can be positioned like the gestures in the game too. I didn’t make it though, my ex-bf’s mother made us each one. We even have costumes from the game too. He’s adorable.

Very cute. How do you do the zipper on something like this? Do you actually sew it in or just on over the top or something.

That is too cool! I am making another one for my Sister in Law and I am going to attempt an open mouth with some of the mods people are posting on ravelry. I will try and see if I can add some pipe cleaners or something to make poseable because she would get a kick out of that.

The zipper is hand sewn on. It was a bit tricky to do since I am not a sewer by any means but it just took some patience. A few people on ravelry knit it in the round and added an extra couple stitches and made them a purl indent and just glues the zipper on instead.

Oh how cute! Great job!

That’s really neat! Looks like you did a great job … it looks just like the game version! :yay:
