I participated in the KAL for the Magknits Saturday Market bag. I liked the idea of the bag and the stitch pattern for it, but I wasn’t thrilled with the way the bag was knit or put together. I decided to take a stab at making my own and here’s what I came up with.

It has a bottom, sides, a different strap and it’s knit in the round. For the strap, I made it wider at the shoulder. If anyone is interested, I wrote up a pattern. More deets on my blog.
Love it! How’d you like doing it with cotton? I have tons of partial balls that I’m considering using. I really like that you adapted it to be knit in the round.
Wow, that is great! And of course my favorite color is pink! Thanks for posting the pattern! Definitely going on my list of knitting projects! :happydance:
Thanks for looking all. kristinw, I don’t mind knitting with cotton. The only thing is I wonder how sturdy it will be. The yarn breaks pretty easily. When I’m working with cotton, I don’t worry too much about having scissors around.
I love your modifications! They are exactly what I was wanting in that bag. Thanks for sharing your hard work! I am always impressed when people say I want this knit in the round or what ever and figure out a way to do it:yay:! It looks great, I can’t wait to cast on!
SabrinaJL. I loved seeing that image! Great job. I made a ‘wrong yarn’ one recently and you’ve inspired me to harass my son to take a digital image so I can show it. Well done and such a serviceable strap! I often find pattern suggest straps that I think are too thin.
Thanks so much for the pattern! I have made the original bag too and didn’t like having to seam it, but wasn’t comfortable that I could figure out how to do it in the round either. This is great!
Thank you, Sabrina, for sharing your mods - I too wasn’t too crazy 'bout the seaming in the original pattern, and it seems like you’ve tightened it up in other ways. Thanks to your improved version, it’s now officially on my to-do list!
