FO: Moon boots

These remind me of the moon boots Neil Armstrong wore when he stepped onto the moon. Showing my age. They are for my two year old granddaughter. I scaled it down from the adult version. This is a crochet German pattern. I took a year of German in high school, so I was at least able to follow along with the video and counting. After I finished this project, I found the tutorial in English.

Those are darling! Don’t if figger, you work it out and then find that there’s a tutorial. :hair: I remember moon boots, the kids had some and they were a lot like your crochet version.

I saw some crochet slippers that look like tennies on FB. Hey, I found the link! http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/crocheting/other/vans-slippers/79742 I wouldn’t buy the pattern but may go back to my old ways and start hooking again. My DD wants some and I think how to make them shouldn’t be too hard to figure out.

Those are marvelous slippers. I’m sure she’ll love them!

Those are adorable. I love the bright, cheery colors and I bet your granddaughter will too.

Cute, cute, cute.

I just had to figure out how to downsize it for a child. I rarely use a pattern. I watched the video to see how it was done. But the original Youtube tutorial was in German. So here I am, pausing the video and counting stitches. Some people would think I’m crazy. I watch knit and crochet videos all the time in languages I don’t understand like German, Spanish, Russian, and Japanese.

When I saw these loopy boots, I thought of you and your sweet little granddaughter. http://www.allaboutami.com/post/74176726789/loopbootswithsuedesole If you scroll down you can see the loopy tops.

   Lucky granddaughter!!!

ZEHR GUT!!!

Those are darling! And I’m jealous! I took TWO years of German in high school, and I seriously doubt I’d be able to get through a pattern in it! Although once we were in Austria, and I had massive jet lag. The maid kept trying to come into the hotel room; “Halloo!,” she’d call, and out of some deep dark crevice in my brain came, “Ich bin SCHLAFEN!”
I was so desperate to keep sleeping that I remembered how to say it. And THAT is the only time I used my high school German. The only trip out of the country I ever took, too.

They are really cute and do look like his moon boots. I bet this pattern would be cute felted and look sort of like baby uggs.

Very nice, I’m sure your GD will love them! Well done for following along in German too, that’s pretty impressive for just one year of German tuition in HS!

What fun “boots”!! Great colors for kids!:woohoo:
