FO: Miss BB

Pattern: Miss BBby Bonne Marie Burns (ChicKnits)
Yarn: Elann Peruvian Highland Donegal (Licorice)
Skeins used: 13.4

Finally finished! :cheering: I wore this to the hospital (DH had total hip replacement last week). I felt great! It was a perfect fit! I did lengthen it by 3" from pattern directions. This yarn is a great wool! Just the right amount of warmth. A soft wool, not scratchy. Softer than Irish Tweed. (But it’s not Malabrigo soft. It’s not merino wool.)

Not too expensive either. ($2.80 per 109yds/50g ball!)
Total cost: $38
Buttons were essentially free. I cut them off an old sweater.

Click hereto read modifications and notes in my ‘Miss BB’ (Ravelry) folder!

I have 6.6 skeins left over. I’m gonna knit another “ChicKami” to wear with this, and other, sweaters! You know me and my “twin sets”! I think it’s a 50’s thing! Although I hear they’re back!

:inlove: It’s gorgeous!!! I’m so envious of your ability to wear wool and knit with these gorgeous yarns!

BEAUTIFUL!

Beautiful as always!!

WOW!! GORGEOUS!!! (as always!) Love the color and those buttons are awesome!

And FREE, too! :cheering: Salvaged buttons count as FREE, don’t they?

It’s gorgeous!

Ahhh…another lovely work of art. Hope you’re husband is doing well after his surgery.

It’s beautiful! And the salvaged buttons work perfectly with it!!

Another beautiful sweater. Was the other tweed yarn you liked so well KnitPicks? I notice this is Elann. The buttons are great. Don’t you love recycling?

Hey there JoodieKadoodie!

Yes, one of my favorite tweed yarns is from KnitPicks: City Tweed HW. However, this Elann tweed is sooooo nice, too, and much more affordable! I have 4 colors: I used Cypress for John’s jacket, Licorice for Miss BB, and remaining two colors are Hazelnut and Morning Mist! I have plans for them both! I’m really impressed with the quality and low price to boot!

The other 2 tweeds that I love are JoSharp Silkroad DK Tweed (Rick’s Jacket), and Debbie Bliss Luxury Donegal Tweed (my Central Park Hoodie). Both are great tweed yarns, however, they are more expensive! The DB is very nubby with more variables thrown in. TheJS is very much like City Tweed (my “Frode” pullover).

I would recommend the Elann tweed and the KnitPicks tweed,
for both great price-point and quality combined!

Beautiful workmanship as always. Could you write out the directions for the buttonholes?

Worked over an 8st garter stitch buttonhole band:

(WS facing) Row #1: K2 / bind off 3 / K3
(RS facing) Row #2 : K3 / cable cast on 3 / K2.

This buttonhole will accommodate a 1" button.

Wow, another winner! I love that tweed, and the buttons are perfect. Lovely work, as always.

It’s turning out to be a FAV of mine! I’ve been wearing it all week! Just don’t get tired of it! Not too hot, and just warm enough! :happydance:

That is gorgeous! Thanks for the info about the yarn. I love Elann!

Just pure perfection on your part as always . I love the button too.
I hope your DH is well on his way with his recovery

A beautiful work of art, as usual! I love those buttons.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for your husband too.

Thanks Artlady for the buttonhole directions. I haven’t tried them yet, but they sound as if they would make a much nicer buttonhole than the directions given in all of the books I’ve read.

Gorgeous…cloud9 I want to knit like you when I grow up:heart:
