FO--Lucy Bag

Here’s my first Lucy bag! This was the large size, knit in WOTA snickerdoodle.

It has two mysterious holes… but you can’t see them unless you’re up close. It’s supposed to be a birthday gift for my best friend Jill…I think I’m going to give this to her as a provisional gift, then give her another WITHOUT holes.

Not hole, Angelia. DESIGN FEATURES! They’re for ventilation in case you need to carry a cat with you.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA :roflhard:

Seriously Angelina, it looks so fab, make me one! :happydance:

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

Cate!

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

None of the sad wee beasties here will fit in the bag!

It looks wonderful–love the color, reminds me of camel’s hair. Don’t worry about the holes! I’m sure she’ll never notice.

Very cool looking! I think that your friend will love it as a main gift!

Great job!!! I really like the color…

Love the way that turned out in the Snickerdoodle!

Could you make a couple of felted flowers to put over the holes? Perhaps like the ones on one of Marnie’s hats, then just felt them? Knitwhits.com has some patterns for knitted flowers and they come with felting instructions, too.

My crafting motto is “better done than perfect”, so I’d make the holes work for me some way, some how!

Oooh…felted flowers…that might work! She tends to like plain, but I might be able to make them work.

Thanks!

I think it’s beautiful! How large are the holes? Why don’t you try weaving some more yarn through the holes and then refelting a bit? It looks so great. If they’re not very big, I’d forget them!

Angelia, it looks great!!

Thanks, Jouf and Margie!!

And Jouf, I almost did just what you suggest, but I’m afraid to felt the bag any further; it’s already much smaller than it should be.

Oh well. I’ll live! And at least I know now just how beautiful snickerdoodle is when it felts!

Angelia, I love it!!!
Beautiful!!!

Angelia — It’s beautiful! Where are the holes? Could you use some embroidery thread and monogram it for her, or are they in weird place for that.

Places are too weird, unfortunately. The dh suggested I sew on buttons of various sizes randomly (and not so randomly!) on the bag. Not a bad idea, really!

She’ll just laugh when I tell her about the holes; this is just so typically ME that she’ll find it hilarious.

If someone knitted a bag like that for me (holes or no holes) I would be absolutely thrilled. It looks fabulous.

I think it looks fab! I really like that pattern…I’ve gone back and forth about buying it…how much yarn does it require??

That is a cool looking bag!

Yardage varies according to the size you knit. I used about 600 or 700 for that particular bag.
