FO: Licorice Tweed Scarf

I knit a mega scarf over the past 4 days! (5"x95") Want to wear it doubled with one end stuffed through the fold! Feels grrreat! This yarn is very light and lofty. Airy almost. But warm as it is 100% wool. Very inexpensive, too! $2.80 per 109y skein. Cost of scarf: $13

4.5 skeins of Elann Highland Donegal Tweed: Licorice
US10 needle

Here’sthe pattern (my own concoction).

I like the “ribbed fringe” look:

Ooh, I love that! Thanks for the pattern.

It’s gorgeous!!!

Gorgeous! It looks so cozy and inviting.

Very nice. :cheering: I like your “fringe”. I like the look of fringe, but it can get ratty looking over time, not this one.

Oh that’s very pretty :] I love the fringe at the end.

 that scarf! Thank you for the pattern.

So pretty! I love the cables! How do you do them?

Click here to read the pattern! I included directions on how to do the middle cable (3x3 cable “C6F”) and the small side cables (TW2: twisted stitches worked over 2 stitches).

TW2: worked on 2 knit stitches: skip 1st stitch and knit into the back of the 2nd stitch/do not remove stitch yet/now knit into the front of the 1st stitch as normal/slip both worked stitches off the left needle= one twisted stitch worked C6F: worked over 6 stitches: put 1st 3 knits onto a cable needle and hold to the front/knit the next 3 stitches/then knit the 3 stitches on the the cable needle=one 3x3 cable worked

That is lovely, I love cables!

Very very nice! I might just have to make one for myself :o)

I cant open that pattern. My computers being weird and won’t let me open links. And I love the cables, but don’t know how to do cables in general.

Oh, maybe you’re not signed up at Ravelry.com?
Well, here is the pattern for you. I copy/pasted it from my Ravelry page:

WORSTED WT YARN

RS facing: work K2/P2…end with K2 rib for 10 rows, or desired length for the “ribbed fringe” look, end on a WS. Of course, WS facing the row starts out with a P2 and ends with a P2.
Note: In first repeat, work rows 5 & 6 twice before moving on to Row 7 & 8. Eg: Work Row 1, 2, 3, 4, 5a, 6a, 5b, 6b, 7, & 8.

Rows 1/3/5:
K3/P1/TW2/P3/TW2/P2-K6-P2/TW2/P3/TW2/P1/K3

Rows 2/4/6/8:
K4/P2/K1P1K1/P2/K2-P6-K2/P2/K1P1K1/P2/K4

Row 7 (the cable row):
K3/P1/TW2/P3/TW2/P2-C6F-P2/TW2/P3/TW2/P1/K3

End the scarf by working this sequence:
Row 7
Row 8
Rows 1-6
Row 1
Then, WS facing: begin the ribbing with P2K2 across the row, and end with a P2.
Continue the 2x2 ribbing for 10 more rows.

Then, bind off in pattern.

Lovely scarf! I especially like the fringe! No need to comb it every once in a while. :teehee:

I love the cable! Its so much neater than other cable patterns I’ve seen!

Beautiful scarf Art Lady!

Beautiful scarf! Thanks for the pattern

ArtLady, I’ve been admiring this tweed scarf and thinking about making one for my son. I love the look of tweed, but I find that most of it is itchy. How is the KnitPicks tweed – is it soft against the skin?

Yes, this is the softest 100% wool tweed I’ve ever felt! It isn’t to be compared to 100% merino however…but for the price of $2.80 per 109yd ball…it’s a super buy!

I have purchased this Elann Peruvian Highland Donegal in Licorice, Cypress, and Hazelnut! It is so totally worth it…and I’m not just talking about the ‘bargain’ aspects!

Everytime I put on my Licorice Tweed “Miss BB” my husband compliments me. He really likes it!

The scarf and hat were done with the leftovers!

Thanks Slim!

So pretty !!!
