FO - Hot Pink Sophie Bag!

Sophie Bag
This was intended as a stash busting project. I was afraid I was going to run out of yarn, but I made a few tweaks and it ended up okay. I made it about 5 rows shorter and made the i-cords with smaller needles. It worked, but the strap is maybe too flimsy so I don’t recommend shortchanging that part of it. I also think maybe doubling the yarn might be a good idea. The bottom especially tends to bulge out when the bag is held up although I’m not sure doubling the yarn would work for that. Maybe needs a design tweak…or it could be something I did when picking up stitches. :??

So here it is. The color seemed so crazy as I was knitting it (Cherry Blossom and Coal), but I actually think it turned out pretty! I love the twisted strap, too!

Oh about felting…I put it in the washer on low in hot water with a pair of jeans and a capful of Woolite. After 10 min it was about done so I flipped it inside out and put it back in the lingerie bag and then just let the washer finish up. I then threw it in the dryer with a towel. It came out fine and I really didn’t notice much more shrinking if any.

I  that bag! Great job! Love the colors too!

Looks great! So how much yarn did it end up taking?

Looks great Jan! I really like the twisted handles.

Well, since it’s a stash buster project I’m not really sure, but it took about one skein of cherry blossom and maybe 1/4 of coal. I’m only guessing though. When I do the next one I will try doubling it and making the straps heavier so it’ll require more. WOTA is cheap though so that’s a good thing.

Thanks everyone!

Wow! That is super gorgeous! :inlove: Love the colors together.

Great job! Be warned, I foresee lots of people stopping you and asking where you got that fabulous bag from.

It looks GREAT!!! :cheering:

So if I had two full skeins and a half a third skein left over from my mom’s tote…I bet I would have enough!
