FO: Creative hair for the King and I UPDATED with Snood

So, several of you might have heard me mention that I am the lead costumer of the King and I musical being performed here locally in Huntsville, AL and if not, now you have! One of the portions of the play is a ballet performed by the King’s wives - Small House of Uncle Thomas (Uncle Tom’s Cabin) and Topsey has hair that rivals Pippy Longstockings. Well, as costumer, this somehow fell under my juristiction to create or get, or something… so I knitted it! In two days! I am happy about that.

Here’s a pic and yes, that is me modeling the finished product… hard to tell which is my hair and which is the “wig”

what a good idea! How creative!

Cool!

I LOVE the King and I!! PERFECT Topsy wig!! :cheering:

It’s amazing what 3 long Icords and some flower wire can do isn’t it?

Wow! Great job! :happydance:

Very creative too! :rofling:

 It’s not surprising that you are the lead costumer. You’re obviously very creative. It looks just like Pippy’s except it’s not red!

Cute! And I SOOO envy you! I’m fascinated with costume history, and would LOVE to be a “costumer”…Lucky duck!!

Looks fab! I was lucky enough to see The King and I on stage with Yul Brynner in the role. He was amazing.

Very original!! Great job!

How creative!! Great job!

Well, another piece for the King and I has left the needles… this time a Snood! This will be worn by Anna in the ball scene when she’s in a formal dress and dancing.

As far as being a costumer… I am just a stand in this time. I am normally the Makeup artist only. Mostly because - well, I can’t sew!

Oh, and this was made using a vintage snood pattern with very cheap blue acrylic yarn from walmart and… lamp trim

Great job! I didn’t have a clue what a snood was until I saw the bottom pic… :oo:

That’s pretty cool.

Man, you are creative! Awesome job!!

creative? I think the word is DESPERATE!!
