FO - Chemo Caps

Finally found a button I liked so now they are ready to go!

The button one is a modified version of The Republic Hat and the other is a spiral pattern that was given to us for the project if we wanted to use it. The yarn is Berroco Comfort.

Great chemo caps! I love the colors, and the button is really cute!

Beautiful Jan, and so thoughtful.

Wow, they’re both so pretty. Love the button.

:happydance: very pretty, I love the colors!

They look great.

Those are really nice Jan! I’ve made a couple of Republic Hats. Its a fun and easy pattern.

Very nice hats. Th button goes nicely with the yarn. The spiral hat looks like an interesting pattern to work.

The spiral hat is super easy. I just don’t like the top being gathered, but with ribs it’s hard to do it so it looks nice.

 1. Cast on a multiple of 4 and k2,p2 for 2-3 inches (I co 72)
 2. Increase one stitch (anywhere is fine) and continue k2, p2 for 7-8 inches. That one increase makes it spiral on it’s own. See note below.
 3. k2tog around and around till you have 6-8 stitches and cut the yarn thread through needle and go through remaining loops. Weave in ends.

NOTE - Do NOT pay any attention to the stitches below when you are ribbing the spiral. Just keep doing the k2, p2. Seriously… this has been driving everyone nuts because we are so focused on knitting the knits and purling the purls that it keeps tripping people up and they have to frog back.

Very pretty!!!

Very nice hats, I’ve decided to make alot of chemo caps and could you please tell me the weight of the yarn you used and do you use wool. I was just wondering because of the very sensitive skin once the hair falls out. thanx, also is their any patterns for fingering weight, wasn’ t able to find any, Joan

No, don’t use wool! This yarn is Berroco Comfort and is very, very soft. It’s worsted weight and is made of acrylic and nylon. I got it at my LYS. Any very soft yarn is good though.

I wouldn’t make a hat in fingering weight so I don’t have any tested patterns, but here’s a few. Make sure the yarn doesn’t have wool though if you’re using a sock yarn.
I’m planning on making this hat, but I’m going to adapt it for worsted weight, but it’s fingering weight as written.

Thank you very much for the helpful info, I really appreciate it, Joan

Great job! I love them both! The button is perfect!

They look fab ! The button is a nice touch

The spiral hat is really amazing. Love the color too.
