Just in time for the heat wave!
I’ve not had time for knitting much lately. So in an effort to jump start back into knitting with a smaller project, I whipped up a sweater for my boss’s dog.
It was so much fun, and so appreciated, that I think I’ll make another for her other dog!

This is exactly what I’ve been researching lately, patterns for chihuahua-size doggie sweaters for my 14 yr old chihuahua ‘grandson’ “Pedro”! He belongs to my DS and his family! Pedro is older than the grandchildren! He is always so cold except for summer. They’ve put a heating pad in his dog crate, on low. The kids are excited about Pedro having some warm sweaters. I have some angora-wool blend stash yarn set aside for him! Not machine washable, true, but I think warmer than acrylic. He needs animal fiber!

The pattern was free, found HERE. I modified it by adding 16 sts to the center ribbing so that it would fit Buddy – yes, I made a gauge swatch…and then did the math. The dog in the pattern picture is a long-haired chihuahua, clipped short for the summer.
there’s a great book “The Gift Knitter: Knitting Chunky for Babies with Four Legs and Two” by Tara Jon Manning. it’s all sweaters and stuff for dogs and babies done in bulky or super bulky yarns. it’s in my library on ravelry
