I started these back in March with help and encouragement from the kinds peeps here. I learnt about lifelines, and had to use them, as well as doing my first ever increases and some really odd decreases too! They were finished in April, but by then it was warm in Michigan so I washed and blocked them and the put them away when they were dry.
Today at lunch I seemed them and then brought them home for a picture or two. I plan on keeping them at work as I sit next to a window and it’s getting chilly in the early mornings now until the heat fully warms the place up.
I knitted the smallest size available but I have really tiny hands and would ultimately prefer them to be a bit more snug, but there always has to be a first pair ever and these are them!
The pattern is Autumn Garden by Emma Vining and I used Malabrigo Arroyo 100% Merino yarn in Candombe colour. You can see it here, before it was wound into a ball.
Very pretty! I love the color! :yay: I’ve been thinking that I need to knit myself a pair of fingerless gloves or mitts like those for those chilly autumn/winter mornings!
Beautiful. I really like the colour of the yarn. The pattern of the mittens is interesting - are there circles in the ribbing? Nice touch. Congratulations on a job well done and finishing your first mittens.
I myself am trying to knit my first gloves ever. I haven’t tried them on yet, but I think they might be too snug. I’ve got lifelines every 5 rows in case things go wrong Baby steps
Yes, it’s a seed head pattern. You increase and decrease several times in order to make the round sections. There’s also a cowl in this pattern but I don’t think I’m ready for that yet!
Wow! It sure knit up in a spectacular design! It’s very nice to see how a yarn will work out in a real project! The mitts are fantastic! You certainly do have a knack for pairing the right yarn to the right project! Not everyone does!
