Hi All!
I am currently making the pattern Morgan by Ann Kuo Lukito. I was wondering what I could use as a stabilizer, especially if I want the shape that she has. This is my first time making a flat cap, so I am unsure what to use.
Thank you so much!!!
flat cap stabilizer
Goodness me, I’ve made one of these a few years ago for my husband but I cannot remember what I used to stiffen the peak - and, as usual, I failed to add that little detail on my ravelry notes for the project!!
I seem to remember it was a flexible but thin piece of plastic, I’m almost sure it was an empty gallon juice container or something like it. I remember it needed to be washable and I seem to remember using a sharp craft blade to cut it and some sandpaper to smooth the edges.
You can also use the fabric stiffener that people use in sewing, I can’t remember what its proper name is.
Have you checked other people’s notes in Rav to see if someone (better organised than me) has added this info there?
Hope you can work something out.
Welcome to the forum!
There are also pattern notes in the pattern itself for stabilizer. The designer used a plastic placemat and also suggests heavy interfacing. Buckram would probably work and there are also these suggestions.
