First WiP and a Question

This is my very first project and I’m insanely pleased that this is finally recognizable as a scarf! I’m having a love-hate relationship with the main colour, though, because it looks better indoors than in natural light. >.<

Anyway, I dropped two stitches near the beginning and didn’t notice until five repetitions of the patter later. Is there anything I can do to protect my scarf from these holes (other than tearing the whole thing out)?

I also had a delightful incident with the evil side of some Velcro…

When I find a dropped stitch way too late to fix, I just run a piece of yarn through it and around the stitches on each side to secure it. Then I’ve sewn it in to hide the ends. I have no clue if this is the “right” way, but it’s worked for me.
