First Washcloth

This was knitted this past summer. It was my first and so far only attempt at stockinette stitch. See how uneven my stitches are? On the back you can see some serious uneven tension.

My edges are so uneven.

But I had fun learning how to make bobbles.

I’ve been tempted to post this before looking for help to make my knitting suck less, but the thread called “Is your knitting perfect” inspired me to post it as an example a much less than perfect project.

This was knitting nonsense’s Bobbles the Sheep (compare her pic to mine for a good laugh!). I used Lily’s Sugar and Cream yarn. I don’t remember the needle size.

Oh, and it’s not frogged. I’ll keep the poor thing.

SOOOOO cute! That is a GREAT first project…you were BRAVE to attempt bobbles! Good for you!

:cheering:
Not nearly as baaaaad as you think

You finished it and you’re keeping it - kudos!! This is a great project to add to a baby shower gift or a “bring to the hospital” quickie gift…I think I’ll make one and wrap with some ribbon for my impending nephew - SO glad you posted this.

Stich on!!

 We all start somewhere. Be sure to save it forever.

Great job!

I agree, you were brave to attempt bobbles. Those things scare me to death!

And, I think for a first attempt at stockinette, it’s pretty darn good!

:cheering: Great job!!

Bravo! :cheering:

I agree. Save it! Many knitters wait a long time before trying something with bobbles. Good for you!

:cheering: I think you should be proud! I have not tried bobbles!

I think it looks great! I wouldn’t try bobbles now if you paid me. eek. Those things scare me.

I knew I took too long to de-lurk!

I’ve always known you guys to be so nice to everyone. Thanks!!!

It’s just Amber’s thread resonated with me in that when I was trying to figure out if I wanted to be an English or Continental style knitter and how to purl (I took a class to learn how to cast on and knit). I would use this website a lot for help and when I’d look at the FO’s I’d only ever see really nice stuff and I’d wonder if I was just not good at knitting and ever would be. I don’t mean this to be a slam by any means, I know I would prefer to only show off the good stuff!!! And I love love love this site!

And gosh, with the bobbles, if you can knit and purl and bind off you can do them. At least this pattern’s bobbles.

Very cute!! I have yet to try a bobble!!

Nice Job!
Oh! You are BRAVE! I wouldn’t post my first overfrogged scarf here if you paid me! And to actually attemp a pattern? Very brave, indeed!

I just wanted to be clear: It’s not my first project. Just my first stockinette stitch project. The previous items were just garter stitch things, like scarfs and training swatches. This was my first non-scarf/non-practicing project.

Its a learning experience! You did a great job and you will see the mistakes. But think of them as learning mistakes.

I think it looks great! I am no where NEAR doing anything close to that.

Washcloths are sweet little things aren’t they! I have one (the only one I ever made so far) sitting here on my windowsill just to cheer me up. I’ll have to take a pic of that. Yup, you were brave to do bobbles, as stated here, they scare me too! Maybe just all the work involved.
Good job.
