on two different circular needles…and its a real pain in the butt!!! Which way do you prefer and why?
That has always been my preferred method as well. I don’t know why it’s any more a pain in the butt than any other method though. :??
because the yarns keep getting tangled together… and i keep using the wrong needle!!
I’ve tried the two at a time on magic loop. Ugh! Wasn’t a fan of constant untangling either. Will try again though - I’ve heard it’s so much nicer once you get a system down. I’ve only done a couple pair of socks, but did them on separate needles. Worked a section on one, then a section on the other one so they’d be done about the same time. I have one going now (that I haven’t picked up in ages) on a Zauberball - the instructions on that ball specifically says to only work one at a time.
OHHHH! You mean two socks at the same time on the same two circular needles don’t you? I read it as just knitting two socks on two separate sets of circulars. That’s the way I do it. Two at once does sound like a pain to me although some people do like it.
Once I tried (unsuccessfully) two socks on two circular needles.
I like to work all things that come in pairs (sleeves, cardi fronts, mittens, booties) on the same needle.
i just saw this thread and love lana’s signature line:
“Knit, rip, repeat between the *s as many times as necessary.”
amen to that!
I’ve done 2 socks on 2 circ at the same time and I didn’t like the needles hanging down and clanking around. I much prefer magic loop. I knit from a center pull ball and pull from the center and the outside so I am not untangling two balls. When I use two balls of yarn I keep each in a Ziploc back so it is easier to flip them around when I flip my socks.
When I learned how to knit socks, I used the 4 dpn to learn the basics of knitting socks which I like. When it comes to “that second sock” - why is it I so dislike? Once I discovered the “top-down two-at-a-time” with 1 circ needle, I love knitting socks. Then I discovered the “toe-up two-at-a-time” I love it even more. I always have a pair in progress cause I don’t want to forget how.
Actually, you can knit anything “two-at-a-time” that is in pairs. And I have tried it and it’s just wonderful.
am enjoying my 2 at a time on separate circs, but definitely looking forward to 2 on the same circ, just need circs with longer cables.
