First time knitter-- want to follow particular pattern but finding it confusing

Hello, a few questions about this pattern: http: // knitpurladdict.blogspot.com/2010/12/perfect-man-scarf.html

1.) When it says “repeat row 1 and 2” does it mean do
row 1
row 2
row 1
row 2

until you have ten rows total

OR

row 1
row 1
row 2
row 2

until you have ten rows total

I initially assumed it’s the first option but then started doubting myself…

Also, same question for rows 11 and 12.

2.) When it says “Repeat rows 11 and 12 ten times. 20 rows total.” does this mean when you’re done with that step you should have 20 rows TOTAL in your entire project so far, or 20 rows done just for that step? To me, repeating two rows ten times would give you the 20 rows, and you already have ten rows in the scarf from doing the first step, so that would actually give you a “total total” of 30 rows, not 20. I’m wondering if this is just somewhat poorly written and you are actually supposed to work ten rows at a time alternating 1 and 2, and then 11 and 12… (so repeating two rows five times).

Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Repeat Row 1, then 2, then 1, then 2.

On 11 and 12, you’re going to do row 11, then 12 until you have done each row ten times. There will be 20 rows like that including the original Row 11 and Row 12, which is why the “total.”
