First time binding off top back of vest... help!

Um, I just know this is really straightforward but I’m hoping someone (ha) will tell me if I got it right exactly coz I want this to be a superb vest for my DH. I’ve only made one sweater many years ago and I forgot…

So I’m knitting the back of this vest and I’m at the top where you bind of 4 stitches on either side got that then
it says decrease 1 stitch each side every other row 4 times.

So, right after I do those 2 bind off rows, I immediately
decrease 1 beg of next row, then at the end of that row… then skip decreasing the next row then do it again 3 more times. sound good?

And, is it alright to just knit or purl 2 together the first 2 stitches, then the last 2 stitches on that same row? I started doing this but then remembered often when you decrease at edges you’re supposed to do it one stitch in. Whew,
ok, that’s a lot of words for something that’s probably really simple… but I want to make sure I do it righ!

thanks for any help

We meet again!

You’ve got it right. I’d do the decreases on the end–this way when you add edging, it won’t show. If you were seaming, then one stitch in is good for that.

Did you know that someone (ha) was a little joke in reference to you! Thanks Ingrid! Glad I’m doing it right, I wasn’t sure about the edge… appreciate it!

Yeah, I know. I really need to get out more!
