First sweater question with stockinette stitch

Hello,

I am doing my first sweater and have the front and back done and am working on the sleeves. The pattern says work 6 rows in stockinette stitch so does that mean I am actually gonna be doing 12 rows, that is 1 row knot and 1 row purl 6 times?

I am confused.

No, you’ll do 6 rows total, 3 knit and 3 purl.
