I am a beginner. I’m trying to do the “Window to my heart” dishcloth. When I get to the row of combining the Knit & purl stitches the next row the stitches are crossed where I have gone from knit to purl and vice versa. I have watched video after video, and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Can anyone help me?

I’m wondering if, when you switch your yarn between the front and back of your work, you are taking the yarn over the needle, instead of between the needles. Doing the former makes an increase which will throw your stitch count out on the next row.
If you go to the Free Videos Tab at the top of the page and then click on the ‘Tips’ option and scroll down to ‘Basic Stitch Patterns’ you will find videos for Ribbing and Seed Stitch. These will show you how to switch your yarn when working knits and purls on the same row.
