Hello all,
It’s been a while since I was here, but I couldn’t wait to celebrate my accomplishment…I have completed my first project! :woohoo: I am so proud of me! It was just a simple scarf. Ha, although I use that term “simple” lightly! lol It took me a month to finish it. I must have started, frogged, and restarted 20 times before I finally just buckled down and pushed through. The plan was to just keep it simple and do K1 P1. That is supposed to give a simple little ribbing, right? lol Well, I don’t know HOW I did it, but what it looked like was, well…seed stitch? Gosh, I dunno. I liked it, whatever it was. What was comical was that although I stayed with the same K1 P1 stitch without deviation, I somehow managed to create a sort of interrupted pattern of “seed” stitch and then ribbing! Man, I wish I knew how I did that so I could duplicate it! LOL
And I gotta tell you, although I liked the crude little pattern I ended up with, that is one UGLY scarf! :ick: LOL Aw, heck, but it was made with love. It’s a scarf for my mother to match the hat I made her for Christmas on my “KniftyKnitter” loom. I don’t care that it’s ugly, and neither will she. I’m just so proud that I actually completed it, and it’s functional! :woot:
I am also working on a baby blanket for my niece’s new baby. I had actually started that project first; however, unfortunately, not surprisingly, it has turned out to be a much LARGER project than I thought it would be and so I wanted to “whip out” a scarf real quick for mom first. Although I am using just garter stitch for the baby blanket, the pattern calls for 5 panels, and being that it is baby yarn and smaller needles than I would have used (I normally like bulky, fat yarn and bigger needles), it is taking me FOREVER to knit this thing. I had worked on it for a month and barely got through half the first panel.
LOL, oh well, it’s still fun! Now that the scarf is done (woo hoo!), I can concentrate once again on finishing this blanket. Ha ha, when I’ve completed this one, I’ve already got yarn purchased for another blanket…I got the wild idea that I wanted to make a “family” blanket…you know, the one blanket in the house that is so soft and comfy that everyone wants to use, one you can pass down to the kids when they move out on their own. Yeah, “good luck with that one, Dais!” LOL
Well, thanks for sharing my accomplishment with me. I must tell you all how much I appreciate this place; I have learned so much and managed to teach myself to knit thanks to KnittingHelp. Thank you everyone!
Wish me luck on my next project.
Peace,
