Firefox Knitting Pattern Central Search Plug-in

Hey Everybody

I just wanted to let you know that I have made a Firefox Search Plug-in for Now we can search the best pattern site directly from the best browser ever, IMO. This is my first plug-in ever and I really proud. Anyways, after I made the plug-in for KPC I discovered it has a sister site for crochet. Why I didn’t know that before I’ll never know, however I didn’t want CPC to feel left out so I made a plug-in for everyone who crochets too. You can find both of these plug-ins at Search for Knitting Pattern Central or Crochet Pattern Central from the homepage to download. If you need any help let me know!

That’s awesome! Thanks Jessi.

Thanks Kemp! Please let me know what you think of it.

Seems to work fine to me! Whenever I get a chance to use it more, I’ll let you know if I notice any problems. I’m sure it’s just fine though…good work!

I think I just fell in love with you… :inlove:

Ahhh! Finally a man who fully appreciates my geekiness. :inlove:

Thanks Adian. I’m glad you love it. I would really appreciate it if you would spread the word to any other knitting/crochet sites that you cruise.

awesome thanks! Now i want to know how to make plugins

Page won’t load, but I’ll try it again. I love Firefox!

So very cool, Jessi! I just switched over to Firefox earlier today when I found a utility on Version Tracker that would let me move my bookmarks over from Safari. So now I feel like I’m TOTALLY hooked up!! Thanks & congrats!

Yay! I’ll download it when I upgrade FF. Thank you kindly, for the plugin!

OH very cool!

I am a recent FIrefox converter myself and love it!

I tried downloading it, but nothing happens. Where am I supposed to see it? Can you do a screenshot?

The little google searchbox next to your address bar lets you pick what you search. Click the google icon and a list should drop down to let you see what there is. And the plug-in should show up there.

Hey Everyone, I’m sorry for not replying to you all sooner. This is a long post so if you don’t want to read the entire message just look for your name and go from there.

Thanks Angela! Making search engine plug-ins is easy. You just have to know a bit of HTML, know what type of search engine the site uses, and know how to make the site’s little icon in the address bar into a 16 x 16 pixel jpg, gif, or png. Mozilla only supports the GET method. However, you can make plug-ins for search engines that use the POST method. It’s just harder because you have to know how to recognize a POST engine then know how to convert it to GET. Knitting/Crochet Pattern Central both use the POST method, so it took me longer to make them than it would have taken me otherwise. You can go to and click “Contribute” at the top of the page and there is a tutorial. Be aware though that it’s written for webdevelopers. At least that’s how I felt while reading it and they don’t even mention anything about POST, so your on your own if the site you want to make the plug-in for uses the POST method. Let me know if you need help or if you want I can try to make one for you.

Thanks Julie! I’m glad you joined us. Isn’t Firefox great?

You are very welcome D. I hope you enjoy it.

I’m glad you’ve been converted, Crystal. :cheering: Firefox is wonderful. It really kicks the crap out of IE.

Here’s the screenshot Jan. Let me know if you still have problems. I can send you the files directly if you want.

Oh that’s why I don’t see it. I got rid of the google search bar. I’ll have to put it back and see if I like it. I don’t like clutter so I clean us much as I can. :roflhard:

EDIT! It works, it works! Very cool!!! Thanks Jessi!

Yay! I’m glad it works for you Jan. I’m a minimalist too but I really like the search bar. Use it for awhile and you will see just how convenient it really is.

Love the second emoticon in your siggy Jesse

Unfortunately, I do not use Firefox. It worked too slow on my comp, so I ditched it. Plus I couldn’t get the add-ons to work. Great idea though!

Me too! This is the best emoticon I’ve seen in ages!

Love it. :roflhard:
Cool plug-in Jessi!!

Thanks! I’m sorry Firefox didn’t work out for you. You might want to give Firefox another shot because we’ve just had a major up date, v1.5, and I know Mozilla has improved the speed issue.

Thanks Amy! This is my new favorite emoticon. The first time I saw it I cracked up.
