Finishing underarms

I’m currently knitting the Pearl Morning Pullover by Plymouth yarn. Instead of putting yoke and sleeve stitches on hold for grafting it requires you to cast them off. I’m struggling to find any videos on how to graft sleeves to body on cast off edges. I’m wondering is it better to adapt the pattern so I put stitches on hold as I would normally do although I struggle not to get at least a small hole after grafting live stitches so am wondering if joining cast off edges give a neater finish. What would others suggest?

Pretty detail on this pullover.
Here’s a video for grafting or seaming bind off to cast on edges. It’ll work for cast on to cast on or bind off to bind off as well. Basically, it’s mattress stitch at these edges.

One advantage over grafting held stitches is that it is a sturdier seam but for a few sts at the underarm, grafting held live sts will work too. If you seam as in the video you’ll also have yarn tails to use to close up any holes.

Thanks for that Salmonmac. I’ve decided to stick with what I know for now and have put the stitches on scrap yarn. It’s something I may well do in the future though.

This may help with holes at each end of the graft. The video shows picking up 2 more sts at each end of the held body sts and I assume you do the same for the held sleeve sts. I would think one more stitch each end would work but see what looks right to you.
