I’m a relatively new knitter working on my first sweater. I’m doing the Berroco “Franko” found here: http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/franko/franko.html
I’ve come to the part in block six where it says “sew the free edges…”
How?
I’m really good with specific directions, i.e. Use this type of sewing technique with this type of thread on this type of needle" etc. The generic ‘sew’ just leaves me going “HUH?”
So any suggestions would be great. Specifically,
Do I use the same Berroco Foliage yarn I’m knitting with to sew?
Do I sew with a needle or is there a knitting-type of join that would work better?
If sewing with a needle, what type of stitch? (Luckily, by nature the sweater shows a lot of seams anyway due to the picked up stitches and the fact that the rows on the various blocks run different directions. So there is already a lot of ‘texture’ to the fabric so seams won’t be totally noticeable)
Later on I’ll have to do shoulder/side seams and attach the sleeves. Same technique as joining the blocks or will I have to do something different?
That’s all I can think of for now (as if that list above isn’t lengthy enough!!). But like I said, the rather vague ‘sew’ evidently assumes I know a LOT more than I really do!!!
Thanks for any help.
