Finishing Collar on baby sweater?

I’m a new knitter and through your guidance, I’ve been able to almost complete the sweater. I don’t understand what I am suppose to do now. Here is the next set of directions.

FINISHING
COLLAR: SEW SHOULDER SEAMS. WITH RIGHT SIDE FACING AND CIRCULAR NEEDLE, BEGIN AT RIGHT SHOULDER, PICK UP AND K 23 STS ACROSS BACK NECK. 10(12,14)STS DOWN LEFT FRONT NECK EDGE. K17 STS FROM FRONT NECK STITCH HOLDER AND PICK UP AND K10(12,14) STS UP RIGHT NECK EDGE- 60(64,68)STS. JOIN TO WORK IN THE ROUND, PLACE MARKER FOR BEGINNING OF ROUND. KNIT EVERY ROUND UNTIL COLLAR MEASURES 2" BIND OFF.ok…

Shoulder seams… done.
I’m up to the next part which I just can’t visualize, therefore can’t get. I am knitting the smallest of the sizes and knit continental style… which I don’t know if it is important to note. I’ve not used circular needles yet, either. Gulp!

Thanking you in advance for all your help.

Look on the advanced techniques page for how to pick up stitches. It’s kind of like just knitting the edge sts with no L needle, pretend your edge is the needle. You’re going to pick them up from the neck opening and work a few rounds for the collar. It doesn’t matter that you knit continental or not.

Thanks, Sue, I’ll try it. cair
