Finished! (Probably)

First fair isleish colour work project completed! Thanks for all the encouragement and help!

I say probably because I haven’t blocked it - I did it in acrylic and I keep seeing conflicting info about how to properly block acrylic. Also, the rib keeps flipping up so I might have to redo it :joy:. The pattern didn’t call for a change of needles for the rib but I’m assuming if I went a size down it would help with the flip?

Fabulous, looks great on you! You’ve worked it all so nicely!
The rib might stop flipping after a wash/block or it could be the bind off its too tight causing it to flip, binding off with a larger needle or a stretchy bind off may help. Did you bind off in pattern? That can help too.

For acrylic I wash as per the ball band and then shape and dry flat if possible. You can also steam it with an iron but do not let the iron touch the fabric at all or you kill the acrylic (look up kill acrylic if you’re interested, it actually is a nice silky result but it won’t be what you want/expect if you accidentally do it). Another way to block is lay it flat and place damp towels or tea towels over the top and let it dry.
You can try any of the methods with a swatch first.

Beautiful work!!

Absolutely perfect colorwork and a beautiful results. Yummy.

Stockinette has a tendancy to flip or curl any but the widest border. Steaming acrylic can help minimize the flip. Do not let an iron touch the kntting. You just want gentle steam from an iron help above the cowl. I use a chopstick to hold the edge down as I steam.
Check the ballband to see if there are any recommendations there.

Thank you!

I killed the acrylic on the first jumper I made (I just went with it) so I’ve been avoiding blocking acrylic since then! Thanks so much for the advice.

Thank you so much salmonmac. It’s much appreciated!

Was it still wearable? I haven’t done a whole project, only a swatch. I’ve see videos though of items like lace work shawls purposely killed nd they do look great. Not something you want as unplanned thing though.

Luckily it was! Gave the fabric a nice drape and the sheen was quite nice.

That’s good to hear. It’s something I want to try on a full project… but it takes courage!

So pretty!
